Discovering the Real Qatar in Five-Star Comfort

swbhSouq Waqif Boutique Hotels offer the ideal introduction to Qatar’s fascinating and colourful Souq Waqif, the Old Market. Created in line with the Emir’s vision to promote Souq Waqif as a tourism destination, the five-star hotels are designed to blend in with the local environment and atmosphere while providing the highest-quality services. CEO Patrick Heuze explains, “We now have eight hotels and plan to open a new property in September 2014. Our goal is to attract more visitors to the Souq through offering world-class accommodations and services, including great restaurants.”

The group includes flagship property Al Jasra Hotel and the very popular Al Bidda and Al Mirqab hotels. Mr. Heuze says, “All our hotels except the Al Jasra feature a very traditional Arabic design with contemporary touches. We want to provide real Qatari hospitality with coffee in the lobby, special amenities in the rooms, and Arabic menus in the restaurants. There is no disconnection between the atmosphere of the Souq and the atmosphere of the hotels, except that our hotels offer five-star comfort.”

Major tourism destination

Qatar is making major investments in infrastructure around Souq Waqif to help draw more visitors. Mr. Heuze points out, “Souq Waqif will become one of the main destinations in Doha when it has matured.” He notes that Doha is rapidly earning a strong reputation for its tourism attractions thanks to such sites as the Museum of Islamic Arts. He adds, “Qatar is a very open society, very company-friendly and serves as a hub for the GCC market. And of course Qatar Airways is the most well connected airline in the world.”

Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels will continue to give visitors even more reasons to explore Qatar. Mr. Heuze concludes, “With our latest edition to our hotel collection, the Bismillah Hotel, we added a historical gem for the tourism. It is the oldest hotel in Qatar and hidden away in charming alleyways. Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels welcome visitors to the real, authentic Qatar – Today’s experience in yesterday’s world.”
